The fully-loaded sub-chassis (platter, slipmat, vinyl and stabilizer) must be parallel to the supporting chassis. The suspended sub-chassis will be tuned for use both with and without a stabilizer. The new acrylic dust cover on hinges can be installed for additional €190. The main platter disc is polished in matte and painted with lacquer to prevent tarnishing. All of the soldering was done using audiophile silver solder WBT-0820 and flux X-M3 (no traces of adulterated alcohol). The old cables were replaced with new audiophile high quality cables and gold plated RCA plugs.

We would recommend to install something like Nagaoka MP 150 (around €300), Ortofon Blue (around €180) or Bronze (around €300), Audio Technica At 150 MLX (around €350). The tonearm is not equipped with the phono cartridge. The tonearm internal wires were upgraded to high-end Nagaoka TC-111. It was selected in an already good condition, then it was restored and the bearing was cleaned and oiled. It’s known to suit the Thorens turntables perfectly. The player is upgraded with legendary “SME 3009 MK II Improved” tonearm. The rubber drive belt was meticulously cleaned using only hot water and soap avoiding the use of any solvent which would have altered the elasticity of the rubber. The result of the bearing restoration is a more stable and smooth rotation and less mechanical noise. The platter bearing was cleaned of all the old oil and grease, and then oiled again with high quality oil especially recommended for this player’s bearing. This removes the specific metallic tinkle and also adjusts tonal balance to give a natural sound. The metal chassis and sub-chassis were damped with special acoustic material. The Thorens logo and other prints are no longer visible, giving it a more exclusive appearance. The top aluminium surface is painted in royal black lacquer. The bottom of the plinth, made of 24 mm plywood, additionally damps parasitic resonances and vibrations without losing the natural harmonic richness of an analogue instrument. The tree is gently processed (with mild surface roughness in a few places) and painted with 4 layers of matte varnish. The player’s plinth is made from Indian Bhandy wood, personally selected and transported from India. It is a precision instrument which, with reasonable care, will deliver optimum reproduction quality and protect your records for years to come. The Thorens TD 146 is the classic model from the 1970s. It's also possible to customize the turntable according your wishes (contact us). It will be the same as on the pictures, just the pattern of wood can be different.
